trapdoor

trapdoor
This usually refers to a BBS program (or a mainframe that you call up) that has a special code that can be entered to give you high access. Usually it is entered as a user name and password when logging on. These are undocumented by the program, and usually created by the programmers so they can gain access to any computer running their BBS program. Hackers try to find trapdoors, but they are usually not created by hackers. (Some other kinds of software have trapdoors, such as video games, which might have trapdoors to give you extra lives).
