type-ahead buffer

type-ahead buffer
Some BBS programs let you type characters to the BBS, even while it is sending information to you. When it is finished sending the information to you, it will then act on the information you sent. The type-ahead buffer refers to the process, and the space in the BBS computer's memory where the characters are held.
